The review of literature underscores the significance of repair as a fundamental component within Conversation Analysis (CA) research, particularly in the context of foreign language education, especially in online environments where screens play a pivotal role in interaction.

While existing literature indirectly addresses screen-oriented repair, there is a notable dearth of research focusing on teaching and learning non-English languages, particularly Turkish.

Motivated by this gap, this study aims to investigate screen-oriented repair in synchronous online Turkish as a foreign language teaching using CA. Data collection involved recording online courses at the B1 level, with subsequent detailed transcription and analysis emphasizing repair as a key analytical construct. The analysis revealed recurrent patterns of screen-oriented repair executed by the instructor, utilizing interactive tools such as chat box, Word document, interactive (z) book, and internet-based applications. Screen-oriented repair encompasses the repair activities that participants carry out to eliminate impediments to intersubjectivity in online interaction by using textual and visual cues presented on the computer screen in a way that is accessible to all participants. By addressing this research gap, the findings of this study contribute to the advancement of foreign language teacher education and the enhancement of classroom practices.
